<p>Genetics and Evolution addresses four fundamental problems commonly found in introductory genetics courses at high schools and colleges. Originally created for the Duke University (and Coursera) Introduction to Genetics and Evolution course, this application is beneficial for students, educators, and professionals in genetics. The solved problems encompass:</p>
<ul>
  <li>Genetic cross mapping: Analyzing genotype counts to deduce gametic phase, recombination rate between three genes, and the gene order.</li>
  <li>Breeder's equation heritability: Calculating the fourth value when provided with any three of the following: starting phenotype, selected phenotype, response phenotype, or broad-sense heritability.</li>
  <li>Hardy-Weinberg: Deriving observed genotype frequencies, expected genotype frequencies, and the coefficient of inbreeding (F) using genotype counts for a single gene.</li>
  <li>Population Growth: Determining the fourth value (Initial Population, Final Population, Time in years, or Growth Rate) from any three provided values or separate birth/death rates.</li>
</ul>
<p>The app also offers a self-test quiz on fundamental genetic terms, Allele Freak to track allele fate based on fitness and genetic drift over generations, and Cross Simulator for simulating Mendelian crosses with results displayed in Punnett Square format. Users can benefit from generating countless practice problems or confirming answers. It includes Dropbox integration for saving practice problem PDFs.</p>
